Acquiring and carrying on a local business — for the long run.

There's almost always a technical problem hiding behind a business one. It's the kind of thing that's easy to miss. I work problems from first principles: figure out what's actually going on underneath, then fix it from the ground up. Every job I've held has come back to that instinct.

I've spent fifteen years building software inside big companies — Microsoft, Airbnb, Virta Health. The real skill I picked up wasn't any particular technology. It was learning to solve a problem from the ground up: find what's actually going on underneath, then fix it properly.

These days I'd rather use that closer to home. Instead of solving problems for companies most people will never see, I want to solve them for a business in my own community — one I can run, know by name, and look after for years.

I live in Oakland with my wife and three kids. Most weekends are some combination of swimming pools, martial arts dojos, and East Bay bike trails. In winter we head up to the mountains to ski as often as we can.

More about me

A local business that brings in steady income year after year, from customers who keep coming back. A team that knows what it's doing. An owner ready to hand it to someone who'll keep it going, not strip it for parts.

Northern California, because I plan to be there in person — in the shop, with the team, learning how it really runs.
